A man throws acid on his wife and causes serious burns

A 30-year-old woman is hospitalized, fighting for her lifeafter suffering burns on the face and other parts of the body after being acid sprayed by her husband. The man not only dumped the chemical on her body but forced her to drink it.

Without being able to speak and making only a few signs, this is how the woman expresses herself, meanwhile the doctors seek to alleviate the pain caused by the burns he suffered on his face, chest, mouth and throat. The forensic doctor, after evaluating her, gave her 25 days of impediment.

“She is stable, but does not present improvements. They asked us for some ointments to put on the burns because at the moment we can’t talk about any surgery,” said one of the victim’s relatives.

The woman, who is treated in an emergency room at the Viedma hospital (Cochabamba), has two daughters teenagers, one 12 and the other 14, who are now in the care of their siblings.

The misfortune occurred around 4:00 in the morning on Saturday, February 25, when the man had arrived at his home in the Minero San Juan neighborhood, in the south of Cochabamba. He argued with her wife and accused her of alleged infidelity. When the argument escalated, the enraged man took the acid out of his vehicle.mixed it with water and assaulted his wife.

Initially, the woman thought it was water, but within seconds her face began to swell and the burns began to show. Her clothes were destroyed by the acid, while their daughters they called their uncles for help.

“His daughters have warned us, but since we live in the countryside, we have had to go out and hire a vehicle to take us to your house. We live two hours away from them and the girls have called us crying for what their father had done,” said another relative of the victim.

The low-income family appeals to the solidarity of the population, since it does not have the necessary money to buy the medicines that the woman needs. Solidarity people can contact them at 746-26185.

The head of the Comprehensive Legal Service (Slim) of Cochabamba, Tatiana Herrera, pointed out that the incident occurred in a context of jealousy and consumption of alcoholic beverages.

He indicated that the attacker, identified as Vitalio P., was apprehended and prosecuted for the crime of attempted femicide, and the Justice determined his preventive detention for six months.

Herrera reported that the attacker is a trufi driver, who works in the Cochabamba tropics. The attacker is being held in the El Abra prison. In addition, the authorities seek to take him to an oral trial for his conviction.

The Police and the Prosecutor’s Office collected the victim’s clothing as evidence.

The doctors stated that the patient suffered a severe edema on the upper and lower lips, on the coated tongue (elevated and inflamed papillae), pharynx, in addition, he has swollen cheeks, dark stiff skin on both cheeks, on the chin, on the neck and on the chest and your heart rate is high. They indicate that the patient’s life is at risk and that, for this reason, she was required to be admitted to a third-level hospital.
