A 27-year-old man fire was set on Tuesday in front of the Strasbourg Cathedral (east), local firefighters announced.
The young man was treated by rescue services in the atrium of the cathedral and transferred to a hospital.
About ten firefighters participated in the rescue of the man in one of the most touristic places in the European capital, where the Parliament of the European Union is based.
The young man, who suffer from psychiatric disorders, he escaped from the hospital where he was admitted, according to a source in the local prefecture.
He was later evacuated to a center that cares for severe burns. in the nearby town of Metz.
