A 49-year-old father and his 27-year-old son went fishing in a lagoon and were attacked by a jaguar in an area near the community of Trinidacito in the municipality of San Lorenzo in Pando. Both were transferred to a Riberalta hospital in Beni, but the father’s health is critical.

“The father and son were attacked by the tiger, they were transferred to Riberalta, one of them (the father) is in critical condition,” said Assemblyman for San Lorenzo, Jimmy Medina, according to a daily report from Bolivia.

The authority indicated that those affected are Rafael Fernández, 49, and his son Alexander Fernández, 27, and indicated that steps were taken to obtain financial resources that would allow them to cover medical expenses.

According to the account of the events, the men went to a lagoon that is 20 minutes from the community, to fish; However, when they were in the canoe, the jaguar surprised the father from behind and fell into the water during the attack.

“I gave him three machetes and suddenly he attacked me biting my hand and he wouldn’t loosen my finger. We fought for more than half an hour, I was worried about my father because he did not know how to swim, I told him to get on my back to reach the shore while we were fighting the tiger, ”said the son in an interview with the Chuturubí News page.

The father’s condition is the most critical because he has injuries all over his body, the young man also has injuries to his arm and legs, but his situation is stable.
