The authors highlight the close relationship between diet in middle age and healthy aging, based on data from more than 100,000 people over 30 years, those who followed a healthy diet from age 40 were between 43 and 84% more likely to function well physically and mentally when they reached age 70.
The study points out that people who followed healthy dietary guidelines in middle age, especially in fruits, vegetables, whole grains and healthy fats, were much more likely to age healthily.
