A greener Uruguay: you get a machine and two native trees as a gift

Juan Olascoaga, general manager of the Agro Division of the company that represents John Deere technology in Uruguay, explained to The Observer that “the event left us very happy, due to the large audience and the content”.

“I was surprised by the great interest in each of the presentations, both for the one offered by Santiago Sena (“The ESG perspective of sustainable organizations”) and for the one shared by Maximiliano Bonadeo (“The sustainable digital path”).

Experts on the subject exhibited at the Hyatt Centric Montevideo.

“We seek to give a clear message about our commitment and purpose as a company and how necessary it is to change the way we do things, towards a much friendlier and more sustainable way”said.

In addition to the launch of the campaign “Together for a greener Uruguay”we work on the relevant value of what precision agriculture means, of which John Deere is a precursor, precisely as a pillar of the sustainability of agricultural operations”, he said.

“We are in a sector that has been constantly investing in technology, a sector aware of the immense opportunity that technology opens up in the different stages of the different production cycles and ecosystems,” he stressed.

Regarding the campaign, he explained that is a global initiative of John Deere for all of Latin America –“Together for a greener Latin America”–, which is part of the sustainability policies of Interagrovial“which is totally aligned and consubstantiated with that”.

The Minister of the Environment, Daniel Peña, participated in the activity.

A million new plants

This campaign, with the support of the John Deere dealer network and customers, pursues the goal of recover native forests in Latin America, contributing one million plants of native species in the year 2030.

For each machine sold, Interagrovial will deliver two native trees; John Deere does the same for a plantation that will be consolidated in a point in Latin America to be defined.

In Uruguay, for each machine sold from its agricultural, forestry and construction lines, Interagrovial will provide a tree that will be planted where the client defines and another tree that will go to a general plantation within the framework of the Plantatón programa program for the promotion of native forests in which the General Forestry Directorate (DGF) of the Ministry of Livestock, Agriculture and Fisheries (MGAP), the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) and environmental NGOs participate.

This enterprise supported by Interagrovial has been active since August 1for which there have already been purchases of machinery accompanied by the corresponding change of plants, which are available and with sufficient stock in each of the 17 points of sale that the company has, strategically located throughout the territory.

John Deere Genuine

In another roden, Olascoaga highlighted the 2022 edition of the Original John Deere Fairwhich is carried out in all John Deere branches in Latin America and was imposed by Interagrovial many years ago.

“It is a traditional, iconic fair”, defined. Producers make purchases throughout the year, in many cases they wait for this fair to make their supply of spare parts and other products to take advantage of the discounts.

Although it was done in person for many years, the latest editions have been virtual. The actual started on July 15 and will run for a few more days, until August 15. Discounts range from 10 to 15% and are granted linked to special financing plans.

Interagrovial has developed multiple communication channels online, for marketing and training. However, it plans to develop face-to-face instances, such as the conference that took place at the Hyatt and another that will take place this year, given that a dissemination event on precision solutions and the John Deere Operation Center is planned.

On financial alternativesthe engineer Olascoaga highlighted that a great advantage that the producer client currently has is that it has a very varied range.

“There are many options, not only with John Deere Financial, but also through many of the banks that operate in the market”he added.

There is also another plus: a 5% discount in the case of the first purchase made online (in interagrovial.com.uy and in posventaisa.com.uy).

With regard to the search for the best proximity to the client, he added that, hand in hand with the development of digital platforms, an important physical presence is maintained, based on the network of branches that exist in different areas of the country, plus the headquarters in the accesses to Montevideo, on route 1.

Regarding how he observes the producer in the daily contacts with the client, he indicated: “We are noticing, from our place, as part of the agricultural chain, that a very good year is ending, with some caution regarding how the next few months may unfold. There are some signs of a slowdown in the world economy that make it necessary to be very vigilant and to manage the different businesses with the greatest suitability and technical capacity. The adoption of the best available technologies to optimize the use of resources is a path of no return”.
