– The average price of a gallon of superior gasoline in Nicaragua will remain above 5 dollars for the fortieth consecutive week, starting this Sunday, reported the Nicaraguan Energy Institute (INE) and the Ministry of Energy and Mines.
The cost of premium gasoline, used in light cars, will remain at $5.11, the entities specified through a statement.
Meanwhile, that of regular gasoline, applied to old cars and SUVs, will continue at $4.99.
While diesel, used in cargo and collective transportation, will be held at $4.51 per gallon (3.78 liters).

For the week that goes from January 8 to 14, according to the international prices of petroleum derivatives, “the adjustments that are required will not be applied, keeping the local prices of gasoline and diesel fuels unchanged, for the benefit of Nicaraguan families”, indicated the INE and the Ministry of Energy and Mines, which have kept prices frozen in national currency since April 9.
According to the Executive, by assuming 100% of the increases in the prices of fuels and liquefied cooking gas, the State of Nicaragua disburses between 4 and 6 million dollars a week.
Nicaragua has a fund of 200 million dollars as part of a credit line of up to 800 million dollars, provided by the Central American Bank for Economic Integration (CABEI) to finance a regional support program in the face of the global rise in prices of fuels.
The Nicaraguan authorities also ordered stability in the price of liquefied petroleum gas, used in Nicaragua for food preparation, the cost of which has remained unchanged since the beginning of last April and which varies depending on the size of the tank and the city where it is sold. .
