The Chilean goalkeeper Claudio Bravowinner of two Copa América and several club titles with the FC Barcelona and the Manchester Cityamong others, announced his retirement from professional football on Monday night. Bravo, 41, announced his decision through a video posted on social media, in which he thanked the teams where he played, his family, and the people who contributed to his professional career of more than 23 years, in which he won 22 titles.
“I think I’ve made the right decision, a well-considered decision, a decision that was also discussed at a family level and with those closest to me. I think it’s also time to close a very important cycle in my life,” said the player who came through for the Chilean Colo-Colo.
The now former goalkeeper thanked the five teams he defended: Colo-Colo (2 titles), Real Sociedad of Spain (1 title), FC Barcelona (8 titles), Manchester City of England (8 titles), and Real Betis (1 title), which was his last team.

But Bravo focused on his time with the Chilean national team, where he played 150 matches, participating in the 2010 and 2014 World Cups and winning the 2015 and 2016 Copa América as captain. “I have had the chance to carry the flag of our country around the world… for me as a player and former professional soccer player, it has been the most wonderful thing I have been able to do in my career… I think I have been most proud of the National Team, and it is also time to close this wonderful stage,” he said.
