A fire in a building in the Japanese city of Osaka on Friday reportedly killed at least 27 people.
The Osaka Fire Department reported that they received an emergency call at 10:20 local time (1:20 GMT) about a fire on the fourth floor of a downtown building in the city.
A person in charge of the fire department indicated that after controlling the fire, they found 28 injured, 27 of whom did not present vital signs.
Television footage showed dozens of firefighters working inside and outside the eight-story building after the fire was extinguished.
The fire department said that search and rescue efforts continue in case more people are trapped inside the eight-story building.
The police are investigating the causes of the fire, which occurred on the fourth floor of a building, located near the JR Kitashinchi train station, and where a clinic was apparently located.
