The Kremlin has broken his silence. Less than a week at the end of the Ultimatum that Washington has launched, its spokesman has reacted to the positioning of US submarines. Dmitri Peskov has also spoken about Steve Witkoff’s visit to Moscow and the possibility of a meeting between Russian and Ukrainian presidents.
The Kremlin requested on Monday, August 4 that it acted with “great prudence” in nuclear threats. This occurred after US President Donald Trump deployed on Friday, August 1, two submarines, in response to the comments of former Russian president Dmitri Medvedev. Dmitri Peskov did not try to excuse the statements of the latter.
The spokesman for the Russian presidency also said that the two American submarines whose deployment announced Donald Trump “are already in service” permanently. “We do not want to let ourselves be dragged by this controversy,” he added.
Dmitri Peskov stressed that in Russia, as in all other countries, the political spectrum consists of different points of view, some of them radical. Kremlin spokesman took the opportunity to remember that only President Vladimir Putin defines Russia’s foreign policy. But also that power calls prudence in nuclear rhetoric.
An “important and useful” meeting with the American envoy in Moscow

Finally, Dmitri Peskov had the opportunity to open perspectives on a meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and his Ukrainian counterpart Volodymyr Zelensky. However, this will be possible as long as experts have completed the preparations for said meeting. According to him, this is not yet the case.
