MEXICO CITY, Mexico.- A dozen rafters Cubans landed this Thursday on the coast of Tulum, Mexico, after having spent around six days at sea, as confirmed by Mexican authorities.
According to reports from media locals, early this Thursday morning several people warned that a raft had reached the beaches of Tulum. Ten men and two women, of Cuban nationality, had arrived in a rustic boat in the Aztec country after having spent several days at sea.
The Secretariat of the Mexican Navy, the National Guard and the Quintana Roo Police provided first aid and checked the health status of the migrants, who were dehydrated. Later, the National Migration Institute (INM) He transferred them to the facilities of this organization to review their status and carry out the relevant procedures.
The testimonies of the rafters, offered to the authorities, indicate that they had left Boca de Galafre, in Pinar del Río, with the intention of reaching the United States.
This is the second group of rafters to arrive in Mexico at Christmas time. On Monday, December 23, a group of Cuban migrants arrived on the shores of Cancun, according to information published by Informative Diary.
The group was made up of approximately 30 people of Cuban origin. At least eight of them fled after making landfall.
