In Urubichá, a locality located in the Guarayos province northeast of the department of Santa Cruz, they are famous for their talent for music and for their ability to make instruments.
In it Artistic Training Institute “Urubichá Choir and Orchestra” they know how important and valuable it is to train human resources dedicated to luthiery.
However, As stated by its rector Adelina Anori, They face several challenges, such as a lack of equipment and tools. Students and teachers, for example, have to go to the carpentry shops in the area.
“The great difficulty we have is that we do not have adequate machinery; thus, it takes us to make the instruments, because we have to go out and look for someone to cut the wood for us and pay for this service”, points out Anori.
Violins are currently produced at the institute, but the commitment is to become a factory for cellos, violas and other stringed instruments.
“For the Institute it is very important to produce instruments, because that way we would not have to buy in other places. We can even sell our instruments nationally and internationally. We have to strengthen this program. Having the machinery makes it easier for us to teach and produce,” he said.
