2,670 officers and members of the National Police, Fire Department and Metropolitan Control Agents participated in the operations during the holiday.
The control for the Carnival holiday began, in Quito, on Thursday, February 24 and ended on March 2, 2022. During this period there were 16 emergency incidents, eight mass movements, a deceased person, two removals of corpses, two falls from trees, two social demonstrations, a fall from height and a suicide.
The balance was announced by Daniela Valarezo, Secretary of Security and Governance of the Municipality, who explained that a total of 254 emergencies they were served.
José Luis Garcés, from Command No. 9 of the National Police, reported that 6,376 police operations were carried out in the District and 362 with the Armed Forces in order to control the use of weapons; 83 people were arrested and three stolen vehicles were recovered.
Less crowds
It was reported that in terms of crowds, these were reduced compared to the previous year: 790 crowds were produced in 2021 and 154 in 2022.
The 911 ECU received 10,421 emergency calls. And in terms of mobility, a total of 194 operations took place in the District. Around 565 officials per day and 1,654 logistics elements participated in the controls.
124 operations were carried out by the Police Intendancy of the Ministry of Government; the results were seven closures, 33 clandestine parties in which 11,500 people were evicted. Alcohol, cigarettes, in addition to controlled substances were seized. (AVV)
