A day off, plus payment of 150% of their salary will be received by those who work on Shrove Tuesday

The worker of the private company who works this Tuesday of Carnival will have the right to the remuneration of the day plus a 150% surcharge, including a day off for having worked this day.

This is because Shrove Tuesday is a mandatory rest day for both public and private sector workers, said Carlos Ayala, advisor to the Superior Office of the Ministry of Labor and Labor Development.

Ayala pointed out that in the private sector on Carnival Monday, work should be done normally, but there are companies that reach an agreement with their collaborators not to work on this day.

Meanwhile, for the public sector, Carnival Monday is free according to Executive Decree No. 5 of February 14, 2022. It is worth mentioning that public officials compensated the 8 hours of this day by working an extra hour for 8 days.
