The attack occurred inside a grocery store, located on Arco de Nápoles and Arco del Triunfo streets, in the Los Arcos subdivision.

According to inhabitants of the sector cited by The Journal of Juarezthe victim lived in the place for approximately eight years.

Until the time of the report in the local Mexican press, that was the second murder on Sunday and the intentional homicide number eight of the weekend.

Currently, it is estimated that thousands of Cubans are in an irregular situation in Mexican territory, where they are trying to reach the southern border of the United States. Although the majority enter the Aztec country by land, coming from Central America, this weekend nine nationals from the island landed on the coast of Yucatan.

The nine migrants – seven men and two women – left Cuba on March 19, they told the local press. After being rescued by the Mexican authorities, the group was transferred to the Tizimín Municipal Police base, where they received medical attention, food, drinks and were given a serum, since some had dehydration problems.

The Diario de Yucatán specified that the rafters were undocumented and that they would be handed over to the staff of the National Migration Institute.

Recently, the Mexican press also reported the case of eight rafters, presumably Cuban, who were found adrift northeast of Isla Mujeres, in the state of Quintana Roo. The migrants were found safe and sound by a tanker that was crossing the Yucatan Canal on February 10.
