A container with medical supplies for about 300,000 euros (about 327,000 dollars), acquired in part with the proceeds of a recent concert by the Cuban singer-songwriter Silvio Rodriguez in Madridarrived in Cuba.

The Ministry of Foreign Trade and Foreign Investment confirmed in a statement that the container was carrying antibiotics, anti-inflammatories, antipyretics and material for medical use such as gloves, catheters, syringes and masks.

Rodríguez decided to donate to the purchase of medical supplies for his country the income from a performance he carried out last September in Madrid, at the closing of the festivities of the Communist Party of Spain, as well as the cash prize of an award that was granted in the Spanish city of León.
The Ministry of Foreign Trade recalled that another similar container, also sponsored by the MESC, recently left Barcelona.
Cuba has received in recent months several donations from Russia, the United States, Japan, Nicaragua and Vietnam, among other countries, consisting mainly of medical supplies and basic food, but in some cases even several dozen buses.
Last year, the Island received 135 donations from 40 countries, mostly medical supplies and equipment for immunization and the fight against the pandemic, according to official data.
Cuba has been going through a serious crisis for months due to the combination of the covid-19 pandemic, the tightening of the US blockade and errors in national macroeconomic management.
