The month began with the inauguration of one of the most anticipated works of the last decade. The Engineer Mario Foianini Metropolitan Bridge, which joins the eastern capital with Porongo, precisely with the Urubó where thousands of people pass through it daily.
The extension of the section had an investment of Bs 92 million and has a long and tortuous history, full of papers, reconsiderations, discussions and obstacles, comings and goings, as well as marches, vigils, strikes, meetings and a long etcetera full of bureaucracy. .
The urgent need to have this important work was born 10 years ago when the then Governor Rubén Costas Aguilera gave the initial kick in his management, however, it was not easy to achieve it. Navigating problems of all colors and flavors took time, sweat and tears.
But today it is, last Thursday it was inaugurated, and it is useful for the neighbors, visitors and users, who travel between Santa Cruz de la Sierra and Porongo on a daily basis. Today it is estimated that traffic time and vehicular fluidity will be reduced by 60%, something that the inhabitants of Urubó deeply appreciate. Not only is it a work that facilitates and makes the flow of traffic viable, but also shelters and offers security in the event of unforeseen events, vicissitudes, accidents and emergencies that may arise at any time.
This Metropolitan bridge has projected the collection of a toll that serves as sustenance and weight control. Every work must not only protect the good use but the adequate maintenance to be sustained over time. According to the authorities of the Government, four booths will be installed in order to maintain the flow of traffic, which currently estimates a daily circulation of Caminos (Sedcam).
No one doubts that this bridge is an example of the contribution to regional development. This work not only means communication, progress and connection, but also the possibility of continuing to grow, facilitating more dreams turned into opportunities with infrastructures. The unstoppable development makes urban planners project more works and new bridges over the Piraí River. The arteries of the metropolitan area require new infrastructures that interconnect the eastern capital with other communities on the other side of the river.
Building bridges and not walls will bring prosperity and develop more businesses, communicate with citizens and give more possibilities to those who continue betting on a future of work, creativity and trust for the region and the country.
The validity of the work is measured by its use and its functionality. Today the works do not seem to keep up with the growth that this region requires, due to different circumstances, it may be due to administrative incompetence, lack of vision, planning or slow execution. But the rate of growth of the city deserves permanent and important works like this one.
Santa Cruz communicates and exhibits to the sound of a people full of concerns and renewing energies. Despite the regrets, Santa Cruz will continue his march, in his style, with inconveniences, but without envy or complexes, because he knows that strength, joy and the audacity to grow without limits are in his genes.
