Congressman Darren Soto announced on Tuesday the presentation of a bill in USA that seeks to stop the interference of signals from Cuba in radio stations in Florida to “spread communist propaganda.”
Soto denounced that the official Cuban radio “broadcasts communist propaganda for several hours each night and affects the transmission of local stations,” especially on the AM band.

The initiative was promoted by the congressman from central Florida, who warned about the supposed impact that these interferences are having on stations with limited resources and—according to him—on the communities they serve.
“Right now, a local radio station in central Florida sees its signal regularly interfered with by Cuban state radio, which for hours each night broadcasts communist propaganda harmful to Floridians,” said the legislator.
Soto also highlighted the economic difficulties faced by the affected stations.
“Many small AM radio stations in Florida and Alaska do not have the financial resources to block these signals,” he said.
The bill, called the Stop Communist Radio Act, seeks to instruct the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) to establish a grant program to support stations that are suffering harmful interference from foreign signals from communist countries such as Cuba, Russia and North Korea.
