In barely 11 weeks, the press and independent observatories they have been able to register more than half of total known femicides in 2022. And it is hardly an underreporting: it is not possible to know how many women have died for issues associated with gender, since the Cuban government does not make the statistics transparent or tell the stories of murdered women.

So far, in 13 of the 15 provinces of the country, at least one femicide has been reported during 2023.

From 2019 to the present, the feminist platform YoSíTeCreo in Cuba has been able to register 132 femicides in the country, which is considered an underreporting due to the lack of official data.

In the next display, CubaNet presents brief profiles with the known data of the victims of the femicides reported in Cuba so far this year. This is a visualization that we hope we don’t have to add new names to.
