Havana Cuba. – Ana María Conde Alemán, the mother of political prisoner Ramón (Moncho) Pérez Conde, died this Sunday at her home due to a heart attack, three days after she visited her son in the Valle Grande prison, where he is serving 12 years. deprivation of freedom.

The regime allowed Moncho Pérez, as the opponent is known, to say goodbye to his mother at the funeral home in the municipality of San Miguel del Padrón, on Calzada de Güines. However, he was guarded by around 20 uniformed men and handcuffed with the so-called “chaquiras”.

As told to CubaNet Guillermo Duarte Conde, brother of the opponent, could only be in the place for 40 minutes because as soon as the phones of the people present at the funeral began to ring, the agents decided to return Moncho to the penitentiary where he is serving a sentence for the alleged crime of enemy propaganda.

Currently the activist is on a hunger strikewhich began the last day he was able to see his 82-year-old mother alive.

In accordance with a Facebook post of the opposition Fabio Corchado, close to the family, “lThe 12 unjust years of sanction imposed by the regime” on Moncho Pérez “for the sole crime of sounding a pot asking for freedom for political prisoners, tormented Ana in her last months.”

“Ana He suffered a lot during the last months of his life. She suffered for Moncho. He suffered for Cuba, the Cubans and the destiny of this Island. His final days on earth were total agony. I have seen few people show contempt for the regime so marked on their faces (…). Ana left without seeing her dreams come true. She left without savoring a slice of justice,” she lamented.

He also said that Moncho “said goodbye to his mother kissing her repeatedly and tirelessly without shedding a tear” because “he could not afford to exhaust his energies” since he is “planted on a hunger strike since July 7”.

Likewise, Elianne Martínez Rodríguez, coordinator of the Cuban Civic Embassy movement, of which Moncho is a member, told CubaNet that Ana María “remained firm against the dictatorship until the last moment, demanding the release of her son and denouncing all the barbarities that are committed with all political prisoners.”

“Ana María was never a mother whose balance wobbled or her throat trembled to express everything she expressed. Firm and admirable woman ”, she sentenced.
