The measures contemplated in the announcement include a Extraordinary Bonus Chile Supports; the extension of Parental Postnatal Leave for the winter, and the extension of the Protect Labor Subsidy and Labor IFE for the last quarter of the year.
Regarding this, the Head of State affirmed that “As a Government, we are making every effort to support the sectors most affected by this crisis, without abandoning our commitment to fiscal responsibility”and added that, “While we attend to emergencies, structural reforms, continue with the mandate for changes that we have as a Government.”
The President was accompanied by the Ministers of Finance and Economy, Mario Marcel and Nicolás Grau; the Government Spokesperson Ministers, Camila Vallejo, of Women, Antonia Orellana, of Social Development, Jeanette Vegaand from Worked, Jeannette JaraBesides the Mayor of Quinta Normal, Karina Delfinoparliamentarians and parliamentarians of the district.
On economic measures
The Chile Supports Extraordinary Bonus is a benefit of $120,000 that will reach nearly 7,500,000 peoplewhich are within the following groups: Beneficiaries Permanent Family Contribution (SUF, AF, Solidarity Chile, SSyOO), Winter Bonus beneficiaries (Over 65 and pension less than the Minimum Old Age Pension, without counting APS or PGU), Mental Disability Subsidy beneficiaries, Women’s Work bonus, APS and PBS disability beneficiaries.
On the other hand, the Parental Postnatal Leave (PPP) for the winter, it was extended for those workers who are terminated between August 1, 2022 and until September 30. This benefit is a tax charge subsidy equivalent to the amount of the average daily subsidy, according to the beneficiaries’ health insurance.
Finally, the extension of the Protect Labor Subsidy and Labor IFE for the last quarter of the year, it implies opening a new application period for Subsidio Protege and IFE Labor benefits between the months of September and December.
After this announcement, the President reiterated that “We will always be available to listen, we will be touring the territory and making all the efforts within our reach to improve the living conditions of families in Chile.”
In addition, he made a call to Congress affirming that “This requires processing in Parliament and, therefore, we invite the entire Finance Commission of the Chamber of Deputies and Deputies (…) so that this is processed as quickly as possible. We know it is urgent and we want to attend to that urgency”
It is estimated that the benefit will cover 380,000 beneficiaries, of which 260,000 correspond to priority groups. In the case of the Subsidio Protege, it benefits approximately 33,000 people.
