The Attorney General of the Republic, Tarek William Saab, presented this Monday new elements on the investigation of the murder of Carlos Lanz.
At a press conference, the prosecutor showed a video in which the wife of Carlos Lanz, intellectual author of the incident, confesses that the initial plan was to blame the Venezuelan government for the forced disappearance of the sociologist and university professor.
This Sunday the accusation hearing was held before the 4th Court of Crimes Related to Terrorism and Criminal Gangs “in which Cumare claimed to have hired Glenn Castellanos.”
“I, Maxyorisol Cumare Sequera, Holder of CI 7,217,663, in my capacity as a defendant in criminal case 4CT-S-038-2022, proceed to request the Public Ministry to carry out the appropriate before the Control Court that has my case,” he says at the start of the video.
He adds that there came a time when they felt cornered since his thesis was wearing thin, “we knew that they were going to call us at any moment because in each interrogation our arguments were falling,” he says in the development of the video.

The prosecutor also added that the Aragua train would be the criminal group involved in the crime, and that it was contacted by Mayi Cumare through Glenn Castellanos.
In fact, the prosecutor announced two new people who are detained, the Attorney General indicated that Cumare’s statement “confirms the participation of assassins from the Aragua Train. This had been said by the material co-author of the act. Both denunciations were made with all the constitutional guarantees established by law.
He also stressed that so far there are no elements that link the daughters of Carlos Lanz directly or indirectly to the facts.
