The stellar Cuban judoka Idalys Ortiz won the silver medal in the +78 kilogram division of the Grand Slam in Budapest, Hungary, where 406 judokas from 61 countries competed, according to the Official site of the event.

Ortiz, London 2012 Olympic titleholder and four-time medalist under the five rings, succumbed in the final against the Japanese Wakaba Tomita, world runner-up in the Hungarian city itself last year. She had previously defeated the Serbian Milica Zabic and the Dutch Marit Kamps in her key, and in the semifinals she ousted the Chinese Xin Su.

However, in the crown discussion he was unable to violate the great defensive strategy of his Asian rival and lost after the judges gave him three shidos (penalties). However, Idalys won her seventeenth medal (three golds, seven silvers and seven bronzes) in Grand Slam events.

This medal allowed Cuba to finish in tenth position in the event, in which they also achieved two bronzes (Maylin del Toro and Iván Silva), two fifth places (Arnaes Odelín and Magdiel Estrada) and one seventh (Kaliema Antomarchi).

Japan swept with eight crowns and anchored in the first position of a fight in which seven countries won titles and 23 got at least a medal.
