AMLO agrees to reopen negotiating table with the CNTE before teachers in Ocosingo

Ocosingo, Chis., President Andrés Manuel López Obrador promised to reopen the negotiation table with the National Coordinator of Education Workers (CNTE), after more than a hundred teachers received him with protests in this municipality.

The foregoing, according to teachers’ leaders who spoke briefly with the president.

López Obrador, who was traveling in a truck after participating in the inauguration of a branch of the Banco del Bienestar, was intercepted by teachers who, with cardboard, banners and slogans, demanded that he immediately reinstate his work with the Single National Commission for Negotiation with the CNTE, suspended in December 2020.

José Domingo López Guzmán, state representative of the Level of Indigenous Education (NEI) of section 7 of the National Union of Education Workers (SNTE), attached to the CNTE, stated in an interview that The answer that he (the president) gave us is that (the negotiation table) will be reopened and that for this we establish a link with Óscar Flores, an official of the Ministry of Public Education (SEP) and that he will allow the advance of the procedure of what continue to establish the dialog again. It was the only deal.

He added that the above was the only thing that the President committed to at this timeadding that no date had been set for the negotiations.

He added that as a result of the application of the education reform, three teachers with more than 30 years of service have been fired.

López Guzmán expressed that among the magisterial demands is the reactivation of the Caja de Ahorros and the Fondo de Ahorro y Beneficio Social (Sabes), both from section 7.
