Fifteen people were isolated in La Rioja after having shared a bus trip with a man who tested positive for coronavirus, apparently with the Omicron variant, health authorities reported this coming.
The passenger who tested positive took the bus at the Retiro station in Buenos Aires and got off in Córdoba, days after returning to the country from Dubai.
The secretary of Territorial Attention of La Rioja, Gonzalo Calvo, confirmed today to the local press that the 15 people were identified. “They are without symptoms and in 10 days we will have an accurate result of the tests and we will evaluate the measures to follow,” he added.
“These were destined for the cities of Chamical, Nonogasta, Chilecito and Famatina, which had shared the bus with a person from Córdoba who in the last hours was analyzing whether he would have the Ómicron variant,” he added.
“Their analyzes were sent to the Malbrán Hospital since in the province of Córdoba they could not classify the variant it has,” Calvo clarified.
“We have identified them all with different intelligence strategies from the epidemiology area. They are isolated, without symptoms and will receive a daily control to identify the Omicron variable of the Coronavirus,” he said.
Then he stressed that “we are on alert but this speaks clearly that things are being done very well because among several provinces we work in a network to make decisions in this regard and from the epidemiology area of the Nation and Province we take precautions with close contracts and Contacts contacts “.
“It was necessary to evaluate the situation of each person, to know if they are vaccinated or not, but we will continue to do control work, we did a PCR on each one and sent the analyzes to the Malbrán Hospital,” Gonzalo Calvo finally highlighted.
The traveler in question arrived in Córdoba from Dubai, a city in the United Arab Emirates, and had arrived at Ezeiza International Airport on Thursday, December 2, with a negative test. Then he traveled by bus to the city of Córdoba, where he began with symptoms and a new rapid test and a PCR with a positive result were performed.
