Driving the Toyota Etios R5, Alejandro Galanti and Marcelo Toyotoshi were the winning duo of the 47th edition of the Petrobras Transchaco Rally, taking home the long-awaited Dunhill trophy.
In this way, Toyota conquers its 21st crown in the historic competition. The victory also gives Galanti his fifth victory in the competition, with 2005-2010-2015-2019 and now 2022 being the years in which he reached the highest podium.
Miguel (Miki) Zaldívar and Víctor Aguilera (VW Polo GTI R5) were in second place, while Augusto Bestard and José Díaz (VW Polo GTI R5) took third place. The drivers Itor Galeano (4th place) and Alfredo Ugarriza (Fifth place) completed the top 5 of this automobile test.
“It was not an easy race, at the beginning we had a lot of problems but we knew how to overcome it, we know that we do not have the fastest car but we do have a great team of warriors who give their all in each race”, expressed Galanti.
TIPPING
On the occasion, Diego Domínguez, who was accompanied by Edgardo Galindo, aboard the Volkswagen Polo GTI R5, had a strong overturn in special test 19, Campo Karen – Picada Ancha” of 43.50 kilometers, the longest section of the day 3 of the competition.
Despite what happened, the crew came out of the incident without problems, but Domínguez’s vehicle was in terrible condition, forcing the pair to abandon the race.

The Dunhill Cup is a trophy that is awarded to those who win the mother event three times in a row or five alternate times.
Galanti became the first driver to win the aforementioned cup, an award that was only achieved as co-driver by Héctor Nunes at the time.
Marcelo Toyotoshi obtained in this edition his fourth victory in the history of the Chaco Rally, all the previous ones as companion of Alejandro Galanti.
It is the 21st victory for Toyota in the maximum festivity of national motorsports, consecrating itself once again as the most winning brand.
This consecration grants the second victory of the Toyota Etios on Chaco soil (2019 and 2022), fourth in terms of cars of the brand for Ale Galanti after winning with the Corolla WRC in 2005, Célica ST185 in 2010 and the Célica S2000 in 2015.
