Next year the Ministry of Housing will carry out a specific census in order to determine exactly how many irregular settlements there are in the country. A fact that is not available today and for which there are different estimates, depending on the parameters used. according to projections today that number would be between 650 and 660. Half, between 300 and 350, are in Montevideo. Then come Canelones and Artigas. There are also in Rivera and Salto.
