Protests of the left and self-convened in CABA and other parts of the country

On Independence Day, the left took its claims to the Plaza de Mayo

Left-wing political parties held a protest within the framework of the commemoration of July 9 in the Plaza de Mayo, where they spoke “against the agreement with the International Monetary Fund” (IMF), while self-conveners on social networks carried out a banner with slogans opposing the Government in the Obelisk and different provinces.

The protest of the parties grouped in the Left Front began at 2:30 p.m. towards the Plaza de Mayo, where they demonstrated “against the agreement with the IMF” Y “to put on the table the voice that is missing in the framework of the serious crisis that our country is experiencing”according to a press release.

In that framework, the deputies Myriam Bregman, Nicolás del Caño and Alejandro Vilca, of the PTS Front of the Left Unity They pointed out from the mobilization that “the resignation of (Martín) Guzmán opened a new stage of the crisis and the IMF has just reinforced its goal of further adjustment in this second semester” and expressed that “the working class and the popular sectors have to plant our voice and make another way out heard”.

Among the slogans with which they called the act, they mentioned “the support for all the struggles, the demand for the trade union centers to break the truce and call for a national strike and a plan to fight for all the demands of the poor people that every day sees deteriorate more and more their living conditions”.

Bregman stressed that the former Minister of Economy “Guzmán has left, but the Fund remains” and argued that “the new minister, (Silvina) Batakis, said that she will seek to continue with the economic program and that the agreement must be fulfilled: an inflationary agreement , deliberately recessive and that binds the economy as a whole to get dollars for the Fund”.

For his part, deputy Alejandro Vilca (Left Front) remarked that “today we also stand in solidarity with the organizations that are being attacked” and “have suffered raids and criminal charges these days in various parts of the country.”

“It is very important to confront this attack against the organizations of the popular movement and the workers’ movement, against those who organize against hunger and for decent working and living conditions,” he said in that line.

Meanwhile, self-convened protesters through social networks on the Internet with the hashtag #9J, #YoVoy, “flag” and “Argentina against the government”, began to gather at 4:00 p.m. in the Obelisk with Argentine flags and slogans opposed to the Government.

The demonstrators later marched towards the Plaza de Mayo, where they entered from Diagonal Norte at a time when members of left-wing parties were leaving the place, in the presence of Police officers from the City of Buenos Aires.

In Plaza de Mayo, some demonstrators climbed the fences that surround the Government House carrying Argentine flags, while others waved them in the presence of Federal Police officers who were on the other side of the fence.

The protest, with the same slogans, was replicated in front of the Olivos residence and in different locations such as Mar del Plata, Quilmes, Rosario, General Roca, Mendoza, Córdoba and Santa Fe.

Meanwhile, in Neuquén, members of the Left Front, the Neuquén Education Workers Association (ATEN) in the Capital and Plottier sections, the Ceramics Union, the Humanities and Social Work student centers of the National University of Comahue (UNCo ), social movements and other left-wing parties this morning joined the national day of struggle “in the face of the worsening of the crisis and the deepening of the adjustment”, and to “demand the annulment of the agreement with the IMF”, according to reports.

The mobilization took place at the monument to San Martín, in the heart of the provincial capital, and ended with an act at the intersection of Avenida Olascoaga and Sarmiento.

The call for the national protest had been shared on networks by various opposition figures, including the Deputy for Together for Change, Waldo Wolff; the national deputy for Avanza Libertad, Carolina Píparo; and communicators such as Eduardo Feinmann and Baby Etchecopar, who were present at the protest.
