The Supreme Court of Wisconsin, United States, with a conservative majority, invalidated this Friday the majority of mailboxes for early voting and prohibited delegating the vote to another person, a decision celebrated by the Republicans who have denounced without evidence that this mechanism promotes electoral fraud.
The use of these mailboxes peaked during the peak of the coronavirus pandemic and more than 40% of voters used them in the 2020 presidential election in the United States, which was won by Democrat Joe Biden and whose result his opponent tried to boycott, the former Republican President Donald Trump.
The court ruling, taken by 4 votes in favor and 3 against, comes a month before the primaries on August 9 in Wisconsin, in which the candidates for Congress will be elected in each of its 8 districts.

The legislative elections are scheduled for next November and the presidential ones, to which Biden does not rule out running again, will take place in 2024.
This Friday’s decision represents a victory for the Republicans, who multiplied unfounded allegations of electoral fraud in the 2020 elections.
In Wisconsin, Biden beat Trump by just under 21,000 votes.
The Supreme Court of that state stipulated that voters must deliver or send their ballots in person to authorized officials.
According to the daily count Washington Post, 30 of the 50 states in the country, as well as the federal district of Washington, authorize drop boxes. Additionally, 31 states have laws that allow proxy voting.
