The Piña Colada Fusion Music Festival continues its journey in the central Cuban province of Ciego de Avila with a program that includes several of the best exponents of music on the Island and pays tribute to the late master Adalberto Alvarez.
The event, organized by the musician Arnaldo Rodríguez, the direction of Culture of Ciego, Mambo Producciones and the MUSICUBA/EGREM Agency, began on July 6 and will conclude this Sunday with a concert by the orchestra of Arnaldo and his Talismán.
During the event, well-known artists and groups from the Island such as Raúl Paz, Polito Ibáñez, David Blanco, the Duo Iris, Toques del Río, El Niño y la Verdad and the Charanga Latina, as well as Rumbávila with Osaín, have performed on the Avilanian stages. del Monte and Personal Reasons.
This Saturday, on the day before the closing, a tribute will be held to the Cuban musician Adalberto Álvarez, deceased last year as a consequence of COVID-19, in which the orchestras El Niño y la Verdad, Iván y los Titanes de la Timba, and Adalberto Álvarez y su Son, led by Brayan Álvarez, son of the so-called Caballero del Son, will participate.

Actors and representatives of other manifestations of Cuban culture have also participated in the festival, while colloquiums and workshops have been held on the country’s musical scene.
Arnaldo Rodríguez, president of the Piña Colada Organizing Committee, said that despite being essentially a music event, it “seeks to expand its initial precept and use its scope to promote human values and good social practices.” as reported the Cuban News Agency (ACN).
The event has included various genres of Cuban music and has promoted genres such as rock, trova, pop and dance rhythms. In addition, it has reached schools and neighborhoods, where the artists have shared with the residents and exchanged with young people about the musical diversity of the Island.
