Former civic leader Marco Antonio Pumari reappeared this Friday after being apprehended in the case of the burning of the Departmental Electoral Tribunal (TED) of Potosí on Thursday night. In a brief contact with the press, he asked the Potosinos and Bolivians “never to lower their heads.”
The former civic leader of Potosí Marco Pumari accepted this Friday the right to silence in his statement, while in La Paz the Public Ministry announced that it will request his preventive detention.
“Just tell the population of Potosi and Bolivians never to lower their heads,” he said while being led by one of his guards.
The civic leader was apprehended and taken to the town of Betanzos, 32 kilometers from the capital of Potosí.

In the midst of his arrest, he was subjected to a medical examination. In photographs that circulate on social networks, Pumari is seen sitting on a bed and surrounded by people, including a health official.
The secretary general of the State Attorney General’s Office, Edwin Quispe, assured that “the arrest of Mr. Marco Antonio Pumari responds to the process that began in 2019, in October, when the infrastructure of the Departmental Electoral Tribunal of the department was damaged. from Potosí ”.
Pumari is prosecuted for the crimes of trespassing, aggravated robbery, deterioration of State assets, obstruction as an electoral crime because he did not allow the calculation process and qualified damage to be carried out in Potosí in 2019.
The Potosinista Civic Committee (Comcipo), the opposition fronts and the Permanent Assembly of Human Rights of Bolivia (Apdhb) have criticized the arrest of the ex-citizen and denounced the violation of his rights.
