President Louis Abinader yesterday opened the XlX Latin American Summit on Democracy and Developmentin which the importance of promoting democratic processes and improving development conditions was pondered, from the perspective of professional training to generate better governments, with actions that translate into more efficient public policies.
“The world can no longer be conceived from the exclusive perspective of the Nation-State. Great powers seek regional alliances that allow, in this increasingly globalized world, to be influential actors and shape the world according to their ideas and interests,” said the president.
Likewise, he highlighted that the event allows analyzing and proposing better solutions to this new changing world, from a regional perspective.
“We all go through difficult times, but they can only be overcome if the goals are clear and the objectives are met,” added President Abinader.
He expressed his satisfaction that, for the first time, the Dominican Republic was chosen to hold the conclave.

While, Jaime Narvaez Pineapplepresident of the International Summit Committee, highlighted the political stability of the country, as well as its leadership in the tourism recoveryreasons they took into account to hold the event on Dominican soil.
The Summit also includes the participation of the Secretary General of the Organization of American States (OAS), Louis Almagro; the president of the Central Electoral Board (JCE), Roman Jaquez Liranzo; businessman and former presidential candidate from Ecuador, Xavier Hervas.
Similarly, experienced international political consultants and strategists Leonardo Aguilera, Avidel Villarreal and Juan Carlos Limon.
Also present at the opening ceremony were the mayor of the National District, Carolina Mejia and the President of the Senate, Edward Staramong other personalities of the political task.
The XIX Latin American Democracy and Development Summit takes place at the Convention Center of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Mirex) and ends this Sunday.
It is the first time that it is carried out in the DR. The coordination and conduction was in charge of the journalist Colombia Alcántara.
