Havana Cuba. — The political prisoner Ramón Pérez Conde, known as Moncho Pérez, is planted on a hunger strike in the Valle Grande prison, in protest against the unfair sentence of 12 years of deprivation of liberty that he received Recently for the alleged crime of enemy propaganda.
Moncho Pérez declared to CubaNet through a telephone conversation that the sentence issued by the People’s Provincial Court of Havana is an injustice and that with the hunger strike he hopes to be released because he has not committed any crime.
“I know that when I stand up I am going to go through a difficult process, but it is better to die standing than kneeling, because it is not easy to lead the life that is being led in this country. I know that I am going to suffer a little with this, but the scare comes out once, as the saying goes, ”said the activist from the Cuban Civic Embassy.
In September of last year, Moncho declared a hunger strike and spent 46 days under that condition. When his health began to worsen, he was admitted to the Enrique Cabrera Cossío General Teaching Hospital, known as the National Hospital.
On that occasion, he relates that he spent 46 days in voluntary starvation and that in the National they handcuffed him to a bed and put a five-ton split (air conditioning) that distributed cold air just above him.
“Those people (State Security agents) came and talked to me so that I would lose my footing, my screams could be heard very loudly. I was wrong, but they never gave me a serum or anything, “confessed the opponent.
Moncho Pérez asks everyone who is involved in the cause of Cuba’s freedom to “get strong because there is no dialogue with the dictatorship and one should never give in.”
The opponent was sentenced for making “two live broadcasts on Facebook in which he encouraged and “incited citizens to take to the streets to speak out against the State,” according to the sentencing record.
The document also states that Moncho Pérez was tried and sentenced to 12 years because “his actions (acting directly) go against the rights of other citizens.”
Meanwhile, Moncho assures from Valle Grande that he has been sentenced for his way of thinking.
“They condemn me because I like to tell the truth and the man who cannot tell the truth lives prisoner of his thoughts,” he sentenced.
Recently, his mother, Ana María Conde Alemán, declared to CubaNet not agree with the sentence and believes that his long sentence is also due to the fact that the opponent “does not shut up and denounces everything that is happening in prison.”
