The magistrates of the Specialized Chamber of the Electoral Court of the Judicial Power of the Federation (TEPJF) declared the absence of alleged infractions attributed to the Secretary of Foreign Affairs, Marcelo Ebrard, related to anticipated pre-campaign and campaign acts.
The Institutional Revolutionary Party (PRI) also accused the chancellor of violating the principle of equity in the contest for the dissemination of various journalistic notes and publications on social networks that, in the opinion of the complainant, outdo the official as Presidential candidate
.
Judge Gabriela Villafuerte, president in yesterday’s session, commented that positions on political aspirations are not new, but it would be worth analyzing the issue in light of an eventual electoral reform.
He stressed that the logic in recent contests is that the candidates manifest themselves more and more in advance, but this does not provide elements to establish the existence of violations of the norm.
Obviously they are future acts of very uncertain realization (…) so there are many people who raise their hands and who do not reach, let’s put it that way, what the electoral process means as such

He stated that there are other similar complaints in progress and surely others will come, but the verdict, with some exceptions, would be the same.
More freedom
The rapporteur magistrate in this project, Luis Espíndola, declared himself in favor of giving more freedom, as a way to strengthen democracy.
He pointed out that the electoral judges cannot and should not build assumptions not provided for in the law, so the guideline towards a change has to be given by the Legislature.
He explained that in the publications indicated by the PRI there is no call to vote, in addition to the fact that the electoral process towards the 2024 presidential election begins until September 2023.
Fine to Morena
Before, unanimously, the Morena party and its leader, Mario Delgado, were fined. who is a repeat offender
with 33 thousand 677 pesos and 24 thousand 55 pesos, respectively, for spreading messages on social networks in favor of President Andrés Manuel López Obrador, in a prohibited period.
