President Luis Abinader accepted the license request made by the minister Lisandro Macarrullaafter one of his sons appeared in the Medusa case file, the spokesman for the Presidency, Homero Figueroa, confirmed to Diario Libre on Friday.
“The license request was accepted,” Figueroa responded to questions about the official.
Macarrulla tweeted on Wednesday that he was requesting a license, after the name of Lisandro José Macarrulla Martínez appeared on the list of 41 people and 22 companies charged by the Specialized Attorney for the Prevention of Administrative Corruption in the file against former attorney Jean Alain Rodríguez and on the Humanization Plan of the Penitentiary System.
Despite not appearing in the file as a defendant, on page 462 of the 12,274-page indictment, Pepca refers to Lisandro Macarrulla Tavárez as “accused” and says that “Jean Alain Rodríguez Sánchez approaches Lisandro José Macarulla Tavárez and proposes the assignment of the work, in exchange for giving him 20% of the direct ones, he proposes doing the work as if it were both, that in addition to the amount of the contract, it would ensure an addendum to obtain the highest possible profit from the project”.
Figueroa said a person has not yet been appointed to fill Macarrulla’s position on an interim basis while he is on leave.
