This Friday, July 8, the rector of the University of the Republic (UDELAR), Rodrigo Arim, was received by the legislators of the Finance Commission integrated with the Budget, which analyzes the Accountability Commission.
After the meeting, Arim declared to the press that he received the “commitment” from the government legislators to cover the resources that the University will lose, if the additional contribution to the Solidarity Fund made by graduates is repealed.
“We received the certainty that the elimination of the Solidarity Fund additional will not affect the resources of the University of the Republic, and, therefore, I appreciate that space of tranquility for the institution when there are substantial resources for some programmatic lines such as they are the construction of infrastructure in the interior of the country”, said the rector. He said that the addition represents about 15 million dollars, just over half of the investment category.
