Dominican government holds working meeting with US congressmen

Gobierno dominicano sostiene reunión de trabajo con congresistas EEUU

During the meeting in which the Ministers of Industry, Commerce and MSMEs (MICM) also participated, Víctor Bisonó; and Labor, Luis Miguel De Camps; The officials discussed the advances in the application of the Free Trade Agreement between the Dominican Republic, Central America and the United States (DR-CAFTA) and in labor regulatory compliance in trade with the US market.

The vice president said she trusts that both peoples can continue to grow and strengthen their democracies and detailed several of the efforts made by the Dominican Government to confront corruption, drug trafficking and its actions to guarantee respect for human rights, as well as to strengthen the trade between both countries. She also reiterated the need for the United States and the international community to help Haiti.

In this meeting, Minister Álvarez highlighted the work carried out by our country in this regard and the opportunity that both States have to establish improvements that translate into benefits for trade and its people.

Among the other participants in this meeting were present by MIREX, the Vice Minister for Economic Affairs and International Cooperation, Hugo Rivera; the director of Cabinet, Miguel Núnez-Herrera; and the director of Strategic Studies and Analysis, Anselmo Muñiz. On behalf of the MICM, the Deputy Minister of Foreign Trade, Vilma Arbaje; and advisor Mario Pujols. For the Ministry of Labor, the Vice Ministers of Employment Policies, Marie Laure Aristy; and Inspections, Julian Mateo; also the director of International Relations, Sarah Pimentel.
