The European Union deploys mission in Venezuela

The National Producer Price Index (INPP) stood at 10.52% per year in June, including oil, which showed an acceleration of 0.86% compared to May, reported the National Institute of Statistics and Geography (Inegi).

The annual inflation of the producer registers a level not seen since March 2017, when it stood at 10.67%, it is also close to the historical maximum of 12.29% per year registered in January 2017, when the “gasolinazo” occurred, revealed an analysis of Basic Bank.

Inside the report it was observed that the inflation of primary activities, such as fishing, hunting and agriculture was 14.82% in the sixth month of the year, which meant an acceleration of 1.25% compared to May.

Secondary activities, such as mining or construction, presented an inflation of 13.02%, its monthly acceleration was 0.96 percent.

Inside, the mining industry registered a monthly acceleration of 3.40%, with which inflation stood at 39.25% during the sixth month of the year.

“Within secondary activities, the highest annual inflation is in the mining sector, since oil activity is included in it,” explained the Banco Base report.

Meanwhile, construction had a monthly acceleration of 0.30% and with it an annual inflation of 15.35% as a result of the high costs of materials, which marked the end of 14 months of double-digit growth.

The pressures for this sector originate because the costs of the materials it uses, such as steel, continue to rise amid supply problems.

Manufacturing industries registered an inflation of 9.99% in June since they accelerated 0.81% since May.

“Within manufacturing there are subsectors with high levels of inflation, highlighting the manufacture of products derived from petroleum and coal (34.42%), the wood industry (21.72%), the food industry (14.94%) and the industry chemistry (14.63%)”, explained the document

Tertiary activities showed an annual inflation of 4.95% during June, since it accelerated 0.57% since May. The industry that exerted pressure on this item was that of temporary accommodation and food and beverage preparation services with 10.88% in June.
