An agri-environmental court took over the immediate stoppage of mining operations developed by the company Mincruz in the National Integral Management Area (ANMI) San Matías. Judge Jhonny Canaviri ordered precautionary measures to prevent further environmental damage from occurring.
Specifically, the judgment highlights the suspension of activities by of the company Mincruz and has the revocation of the environmental license granted by the Ministry of Environment and Water (MMyA). The deputy María René Álvarez (We believe) filed a legal action to stop the authorizations of mining exploitation in the ANMI San Matías.
“This company must stop its activities immediately, otherwise it would be committing a crime,” says the opposition assemblywoman. “The operations of the Mincruz company are totally irregular, there is environmental damage irreversible already caused to the ANMI San Matías”, added the legislator.
Mincruz had permission to exploit manganese. Last June, it was reported administrative irregularities which resulted in the issuance of the environmental license in favor of the company. Álvarez’s complaint would compromise high authorities of the Mining and Environment ministries.
Once the triumph was achieved in the tribunals, the assemblywoman announced a request to the president of the State, Luis Arce Catacora, to intervene with the pertinent administrative actions in the Ministries of Mining and Metallurgy and Environment and Water (MMyA).
He considers that the permits granted to Mincruz had the irregular action of officials and authorities.
