The journalist from Cuarto Poder, Eduardo Quispe, indicated this Thursday that the “kidnapping” he suffered along with his partner Elmer Valdiviezo from the news program Cuarto Poder, by the peasant rounds of the district of Chadín, in Cajamarca, is a “consequence” of what expressed by President Pedro Castillo.
During the press conference offered by the reporter together with Mauricio Aguirre, journalistic director of Cuarto Poder, he pointed out that what happened occurred after the investigations into the case of the sister-in-law of the head of state.
“What awaits us colleagues in general who want to go I think is not a welcoming environment in the place (…) what happened yesterday is in one way or another endorsed by the president’s own sayings because what they [ronderos] they said and argued with us is the same speech of the President of the Republic”mentioned the communicator.
“So, what happened yesterday is a consequence of what the President of the Republic said, who has that whiff against the press that doesn’t like investigations.. And it is a complaint against his daughter-sister-in-law, that the community that is with him with a close authority that is with him and forces a group of journalists to rectify themselves or be more clearly impossible, “he remarked.
Eduardo Quispe said that he could not identify the full names of the group of people who held him and took his equipment, but he can identify faces. He added that they did not receive physical attacks, but they did receive “permanent verbal threats.”
When asked about what he mentioned on a local radio that the mayor of Chadín, Cesar Castillowas at this moment that they were detained and helped us, the journalist replied that they will provide more details later because what interests them now as a journalistic team is to recover the material that they recorded as part of their work.
Quispe together with the producer of Fourth power reported that América TV is evaluating with its legal team the filing of a complaint and that this information will be known in the next few hours. They detailed that for now the Public Ministry is investigating the case.
