Prosecutor's Office assures that defendants in the Las Torres case communicated with 'criminal jargon'

The investigations indicate that the defendants would have used a mobile messaging service that allowed them to delete the messages immediately and thus not leave traces.

The defendants in the Las Torres case used ‘criminal jargon’ to communicate through the social network of Telegram, that allows you to delete messages. This theory was put forward by the State Attorney General during the third day of the preparatory hearing for the trial, which took place this Thursday, December 9, 2021.

The head of the Prosecutor’s Office, Diana Salazar, indicated that in this way the defendants avoided leaving records of their names. “This is how criminal structures work to try not to leave evidence “.

Investigations suggest that this alleged criminal structure demanded bribes from Nolimit, a company that offers oil services, in exchange for fading glosses in the Comptroller’s Office, maintain contracts with Petroecuador and manage pending payments.

During this third day of the hearing, Salazar presented the elements of conviction to support his accusatory opinion against the 13 indicted for the alleged crime of organized crime. Among the suspects is the former state comptroller, Pablo Celi. The investigations indicate that the events occurred in three public entities between the years 2017 and 2020.

In almost three hours, the Prosecutor’s Office made use of six of the 289 elements of conviction that he compiled to solve the theory of his case.
