The mayor of San Pedro de Coris, Janet Meza, denounced this Thursday that the sale of the Cobriza Mining Unit (Huancavelica) would be directed to the company Concentrados Peruanos SAC, whose owner is Samuel Dyer.
“Today at 2 in the afternoon, the creditors’ meeting is going to meet to evaluate the two bidders for possible buyers of the mining unit, one of them is Cobre de los Andes, which has the first minute of purchase and sale”he specified in a dialogue with RPP Noticias.
“Then there is another company Concentrados Peruanos SAC., whose owner Samuel Dyer, who has been in business buying scrap from the La Oroya metallurgical plant and also owns Camposol,” he added.
He indicated that the population of Huancavelica is very worried because they have seen that Cobre de Los Andes is backed by two companies that have experience exploitation in the mining sector. While Samuel Dyer’s company is an agro-exporter and has no experience in the field.
“We make the public complaint that the purchase process is being directed towards him, who in turn is a client of the legal representative of Doe Run Peru. We are concerned that such an important mine that offers wealth for the country, for the poorest region of Peru, is directed to a company that has no experience in the sector.”, he asserted.
He specified that they have requested that the company that becomes a creditor to the Cobriza mine meets three requirements. “The first is that whoever wants to buy copper has experience in the field, has the financial backing to invest and respects the communities. That is what we have asked for, but unfortunately the liquidator with the support of Minem, Indecopi, would be directing towards a sector that is not serious, which appeared a week ago.
Finally, he announced that this Monday, July 11, they will have a dialogue table with the Council of Ministers.
