The mother of the 12-year-old boy, who was charged by the Prosecutor’s Office, gave her version of the events. She maintained that she does not lose hope of finding her son alive.
“I don’t have to lie, I don’t have to hide anything,” said Josefina Ozuna, mother of José Miguel Ozuna, when asked by Universo/Nación Media about her son’s disappearance.
Along these lines, she explained that the prosecutor Fátima Girala charged her with the violation of the duty of care. This, due to the versions received by the prosecutor that the child was neglected, without receiving medication from her and alone most of the time.
However, the interviewee denied everything mentioned and said that, as a single mother, she left her son in the care of her older brothers when she went to work, since she is the breadwinner of her household.
“My son is not malnourished or mistreated, I want the prosecutor to go to the police stations to see if anyone ever reported me for mistreatment or if I left my home. He always got lost, but he always came back or we filed a complaint because they already know us,” said the woman, pointing out that today marks 14 days without knowing the whereabouts of “Peño”, as they affectionately call him.
Doña Josefina recalled the events and said that one Saturday she filed the complaint and that on Thursday of the following week the prosecutor appeared at her home. “I only said that I did not see the prosecutor’s face until Thursday, because José disappeared on a Friday, she came almost eight days later and they raided my home.”
Asked if her son did not receive the medication, the accused indicated that she has not bought the medication for 7 months because she receives free samples from a Clinic that helps her. Regarding education, she said that José is enrolled, but that he needs special education.
“I knocked on many doors for him to receive special education and everything was no, that happens if you don’t have money, they even told me that he has no difficulty. It’s expensive, where am I going to get the money to pay, ”he questioned.
On the other hand, he said that yesterday they raked the area with the help of volunteer firefighters, police officers and residents, continuing with the search for the child.
