Last Monday, July 4, the Public Ministry announced that they had opened a preliminary investigation against Yenifer Paredes, sister of the first lady and sister-in-law of President Pedro Castillo. A day later, the Prosecutor’s Office entered the Government Palace to collect information on this case.
This action was carried out in order to determine whether Paredes Navarro resorted to the head of state to obtain favors for the benefit of the state supplier JJM Espino Engineering & Construction, which won the award of a work from the Provincial Municipality of Cajatambo for 3 million. 876 thousand soles.
Hugo Espino, owner of this company, visited the Government Palace five times, between August 8 and October 18. On two occasions he met with Yenifer Paredes Navarro, and once with the first lady Lilia Paredes Navarro.
