Reformists ask for secret vote in convention to elect new authorities

Proponen, además  en el documento, que la convención sea celebrada a más tardar el 30 de julio en razón de que las actuales autoridades cumplieron su mandato el pasado 20 de mayo del 2022.

SANTIAGO.- Dozens of leaders of the Christian Social Reformist Party (PRSC) who support the renewal of that political organization asked that the vote in the Ordinary National Assembly to elect the new authorities be secret to avoid manipulation.

The leaders Héctor Rodríguez Pimentel, Osiris de León, Ricardo Espaillat, Hernani Aquino, Rosa Miniño, Fredy Roa, Mario Díaz, José Espaillat, Robert Suárez and Francisco Boitel led a meeting in this city where they signed a manifesto, together with dozens of reformists, where they also demand the intervention of the Central Electoral Board (JCE) in the convention that the PRSC will hold soon.

They said that the method that has always been used in the reformist assemblies has been that of acclamation or raising of hands in an “overwhelming manner” to prevent the leaders from expressing themselves freely and conscientiously.

They pointed out that times have already changed and the reformist bases want their will to be respected and that is why they are calling for arbitration by the JCE “just as it has done with other political organizations.”

They also ask that the convention to elect the party’s new leadership be held within the term established in the party’s statutes, which gives the authorities 60 days to hold said convention.

They also propose in the document that the convention be held no later than July 30 because the current authorities fulfilled their mandate on May 20, 2022.

They stated that the new authorities that emerge from the Ordinary Assembly must carry out a broad organizational program to put the Reformist Party in a position to compete in the 2024 elections.

They consider that if the PRSC passes this year without choosing its candidates for the presidency of the Republic, senators, deputies, mayors and aldermen “it would no longer have anything to look for in the upcoming electoral process.

The statement is also signed by the leaders Aura Peralta, María Fermín, Rodolfo Valdez Vilorio, Reemberto Pichardo, Rafael Santana, Andrés García, Eddy R. Parra, Ángel Manuel Hernández,
Máximo Almonte, Palito Martínez, Blanco Disla, Ramón Santos Pérez, Daniel Bierd, Andrés Ramírez, Guillermo Martínez, Marcos García, David Vargas, Nancy Díaz, Rubén Ferreira, Ángel Manuel Hernández, Francisco Faña, Máximo Almonte, Pablito Martínez, Willy Jiménez, Genaro Arias, Idelfonso Rodríguez, Camilo Taveras, Víctor Reyes, Chico de Salcedo, Aurelio Vargas, Evangelista Gutiérrez, Ángel Pascal, José Francisco Dorvil, José Albertico Then, Héctor Rafael Mora, Pedro Taveras, Iván Pérez, among others.
