The Room of the Chamber of Deputies and Deputies approved on Monday to question the Minister of Education, Marco Antonio Avilaregarding, among other issues, the advancement and extension of winter vacations for schoolchildren.
The interpellation was requested by 52 deputies from Chile Vamos and obtained 68 votes in favor, 33 against and five abstentions. The event will be held on August 1 from 4:00 p.m.
“With questions and against questions that we hope will help citizens understand many of the hasty measures that have been taken and why so many others have not been taken,” said the UDI deputy Jorge Alessandriwho will be in charge of the interpellation.
“We are going to ask the minister to explain in this room why he resorted to suspending classes before having applied other measures. Why, if he knew that respiratory viruses mostly affect children under 5 years of age, he suspended until fourth grade,” complemented the legislator.
Other aspects that will be consulted in the interpellation are the measures and programs aimed at confronting the acts of violence that have occurred in educational establishments.
They will also question the implementation of the forgiveness of Credit with State Guarantee (CAE), a measure that is a campaign promise of the President Gabriel Boric.
Likewise, policies will be considered to address the increase in school dropouts as a result of the pandemic.
Other aspects to consider in the interpellation will be:
- The current situation of the so-called “emblematic high schools”.
- The budget execution of the Ministry of Education for the current year, resources and execution plan.
- Express the position as a Government regarding the norms related to education in the draft of the New Constitution.
- Deliver general guidelines and measures executed and under analysis regarding the Simce test.
- Specify programs and policies of the Ministry of Education planned, under study and in execution by this Government, as well as the analysis of programs and policies in education promoted by the previous Government.
