The President of the Republic and Commander-in-Chief of the Bolivarian National Armed Forces (FANB), Nicolás Maduro, authorized this Monday the promotion of 219 officers to the rank of generals and admirals of all components of the military corps.
From the Mausoleum of the Liberator Simón Bolívar, in Caracas, the head of state ordered the promotion of 81 officers to the rank of division general and vice admiral, 81 to the rank of brigadier general and rear admiral belonging to the Bolivarian Army, Bolivarian Navy, Bolivarian Military Aviation and Bolivarian National Guard.
57 officers were also promoted with the first place in order of merit of each promotion, of which 8 correspond to colonels and ship captains; 4 lieutenant colonels and frigate captains; 13 majors and lieutenant commanders; 12 to captains and lieutenants; and 20 to 1st. lieutenants and frigate lieutenants.
“We have been building a Bolivarian National Armed Force that is proof of all circumstances, of all events. We have had moments of demand and I said it (…) in the face of any circumstance, nerves of steel, calm and sanity, “said the president.
He said that the officers have worn the FANB uniform with “absolute morality and dignity”, and affirmed that for this reason they have earned the promotion for knowledge and preparation.
«But promotion should not mean any privilege, it should mean more self-demand, more demand. The promotion must mean more revolutionary, Bolivarian commitment. It must mean more efficiency, more discipline, more creativity, more innovation, more union », he stressed.
