Venezuela has someone to defend it because it has a military power “firmly planted in defense of peace,” said the President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro, on Monday, while leading a act of promotions generals and admirals of the Bolivarian National Armed Forces (FANB).
«I can say today, in the year 2022: Venezuela has someone to defend it, Venezuela has someone to defend it well because Venezuela has a military power firmly planted in the defense of the territory, peace and national unity. Let no one be wrong with us, ever », he asserted from the Mausoleum of the Liberator, in Caracas.
After authorizing the promotion of 219 officers to the rank of generals and admirals, the head of state said that a FANB has been built “proof of all circumstances” and events, which has allowed it to go through “demanding moments.”
«In the face of any circumstance (…) nerves of steel, calm and sanity, maximum union and maximum civic-military mobilization, and we did so and here we are standing and victorious. We are here thanks to morality, to the spirit that unites us as the Bolivarian nation that we are », he added.
He said that the FANB represents the military power of a heroic country, for which he urged the officers who rose to continue wearing the uniform with “absolute honesty, honor and dignity.”
«But promotion should not mean any privilege, it should mean more self-demand, more demand. The promotion must mean more revolutionary, Bolivarian commitment. It must mean more efficiency, more discipline, more creativity, more innovation, more union », he said.
New promotions approved
In total, the president approved the promotion of 219 officers from the four components of the FANB: National Army, Aviation, Navy and Bolivarian National Guard.
In this sense, it ordered the promotion of 81 officers to the rank of division general and vice admiral, and 81 to the rank of brigadier general and rear admiral belonging to the different components.
57 officers were also promoted with the first place in order of merit of each promotion to colonels and captains of ships, frigates, corvette; captains and lieutenants; majors and frigate lieutenants.
The president explained that the promotion time corresponds to seven annual promotions, which translates into 15,150 officers and professional troops, division generals, brigadier generals, vice admirals and rear admirals.
