The first Aerolineas Argentinas flight from Buenos Aires to Havana landed today at the José Martí International Airport.

After the flights of that airline to the island were suspended in 2016, the Boeing 737 MAX 8 arrived in the Cuban capital on Monday with 168 passengers on board.

Aerolineas Argentinas is one of the main airlines in South America. Before the suspension of its flights to Havana, it flew twice a week with a stopover in Caracas.

With this resumption, the number of weekly trips to Havana increases to three, with a stop in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic.

This route is highly requested by tourist agencies and operators, both from Argentina and from different places in the region.

The flights of that airline were canceled in 2016, when the then Argentine president Mauricio Macri suspended half of the financial support to the company, which at that time had two direct flights per week to the Cuban capital.
