With the awarding of the prizes of the Justo Vega National Impromptu Contest, the activities of the 55th edition of the Cucalambeana Conference concluded in Las Tunas.
The first place went to the young Avilanian Rainer Nodal and the second and third to Anabeivi Rodríguez, from Pinar del Río, and Yordan Quintero, from Villa Clara, respectively. Another man from Villa Clara, Eduardo Antonio Cruz Zamora, won the prize for the popularity of the event.
The event was dedicated to the 193rd anniversary of the birth of Juan Cristóbal Nápoles y Fajardo, and to the centenary of Jesús Orta Ruiz, the Naborí Indian. The poet’s son, Fidel Orta, highlighted his father’s affection for the Las Tunas lands.
The prize of the Cucalambé Written Tenth Contest went to the young neurologist, pediatrician and writer Yadira Trocha Nerey from Camagüey.
After years of a pandemic, the Cucalambeana Day returned to the El Cornito farm. For a whole year, the details are prepared, the communities compete and work is done to keep the peasant traditions and culture alive.
