The national president Nicolás Maduro explained that the promotion time corresponds to seven annual promotions, which translates into 15,150 officers and professional troops, division generals, brigadier generals, vice admirals and rear admirals.
The Venezuelan ruler Nicholas Maduroled the act of promotion of Officers in the Rank of Generals, Admirals and military personnel who ranked first in the order of merit of each promotion and category of the National Armed Forces (FAN).
During the act, held at the Mausoleum of the Liberator, the president assured that he has an Armed Force “all proof (…) firmly planted in defense of peace.”
“Today we have a FAN that is proof of all circumstances and all events, with a very honorable morality, very heroic, very disciplined, very united (…) The military power of the country, because that is what we are, the military power, the power of the weapons of a heroic Homeland, the Homeland of Bolívar”, he said.
After authorizing the promotion of 219 officers to the rank of generals and admirals, Maduro affirmed that “we have had moments of demand,” to which he added that “they have managed to overcome” with “maximum union, maximum civic-military mobilization.”
“Here we are today standing and victorious, thanks to the morality and conscience and the spirit that unites us as the Bolivarian Nation that we are. Here we are,” he said.
In this sense, it ordered the promotion of 81 officers to the rank of division general and vice admiral, and 81 to the rank of brigadier general and rear admiral belonging to the different components. 57 officers were also promoted with the first place in order of merit of each promotion to colonels and captains of ships, frigates, corvette; captains and lieutenants; majors and frigate lieutenants.

The also president of the United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV) stressed that the FAN is prepared with a high degree of patriotism, in the face of adversities that arise.
“Today I can say that Venezuela has someone who defends it, because Venezuela has a military power planted and firm in the defense of the territory, peace and national unity, let no one be wrong with us (…). Go along the paths of honor, along the path of patriotism to shine promotions that have been earned through effort and merit. Long live the homeland!” Maduro concluded.

Finally, he indicated that promotions “do not represent a privilege”, for which he urged officers to wear the uniform with “dignity and integrity”.
“You have worn those uniforms with dignity and integrity and have earned these promotions for moral merits, for patriotic commitment and professional merits, but promotion should not mean any privilege but more self-demand,” he warned. “That must mean promotion to the next higher rank: Humility, example, honesty, honor, commitment, patriotism, like Bolívar who reached the top of the military ranks. The love and recognition of the people is the highest rank one can have”.
